Patient database saves the day
Study phase: Proof-of-concept, phase I
Type of Client: Biotech Company
Therapeutic area: Diabetes Type II
Delivered: Increase screening activity for one site during 1½
The number of mono-metformin treated patients found for a proof-of-concept study at a phase I clinic was simply not enough. And there were only two weeks of screening left.
To boost the recruitment A+ Science was asked to find a certain number of patients with correct diagnose and treatment, willing to be referred to the study site. After two days of planning and preparations, A+ Science started contacting potential patients registered in the A+ Science volunteer database. Three days later and only six days after the initial contact, the agreed number of referred patients had been reached, resulting in a screening pace twice as high as before.
The A+ Science Volunteer Database contains names, contact information and basic medical data for patients within a number of therapeutic areas. It offers the possibility to select potential study participants based on their demographics, medical status and geography. Suitable patients can be contacted quickly using phone, email, etc. It is a tool of vital importance to quickly improve recruitment speed.
